The Truth About Popcorn Buckets!

Yep, there’s a lot more to the popcorn bucket than you may think. Of course, there’re the jokes that you find all over the net – and I won’t mention them because, honestly, they don’t pay much respect to the tradition of popping popcorn. And indeed, what a tradition it has become. Those simple paper popcorn buckets and their contents have become more than just a commodity they have become something some people just can’t live without.

Seriously: think about the memories you have that involve popcorn buckets, and – here’s what’s more – think about what memories you would be able to impart if you had your own popcorn bucket design. I’m not joking about this: there are many rumors out there that the bucket now used by KFC to put its chicken in is actually just a reinforced popcorn bucket – and there may be some truth in it if we can count the traditional design as an argument.

There’re different kinds of popcorn buckets, and they don’t just differ in size or content. Yes, we all know the little cups and we are all familiar with the family sized containers. Popcorn buckets have become a concept of themselves, depending on which company they are designed by. You can find buckets that have the same design as the popcorn makers that give them away, and it’s easy to receive buckets that come with various kinds of corn and flavoring, all of the producers trying to make it as original and satisfying as possible.

I discovered that you can make popcorn buckets work for you in an amazing array of ways – it’s all about bringing fun to the party. Check out the different websites specifically created for having those traditional designs work for you. Making your own popcorn buckets is easy if you’re willing to look around for a little information. Imagine the smile on the children’s faces if they know they’ll be eating popcorn out of a bucket with their face printed on it. A family picture? The favorite movie hero on that bucket? Companies do it – why not you?  Or you can just order the ones already available for sale, it’s totally up to you.

So, who knows, maybe the next time you have that delicious snack in front of the TV or in the movie theater, spend a second or two contemplating the container you have in your hands. It’s not just a piece of rolled-up carton, and the contents of that box have probably been thought through as much as the design of the bucket itself. It represents a tradition, both in flavor and in design – not to mention atmosphere or mood. Who knows – maybe the next bucket you hold in your hands will be one you design yourself. A little piece of memorabilia for that perfect party or family gathering you won’t be able to forget.

Choosing The Best Used Popcorn Machine

Popcorn has been around for centuries – and so has the machines that make them. There are so many different popcorn poppers out there, that it just may seem hard to make a choice. Maybe a used popcorn machine is the way to go? While doing your research on the best popcorn maker for your needs keep in mind that the option to buy used is available. You may feel that you’re overwhelmed with the different choices available, but really, that’s an advantage. First, we have to discover why you need a popcorn machine – after that, the choice should be easy.

I was browsing the other day and found so many bargains that I had a hard time choosing just one. After all, 50% of the original price after only 3 months seemed too good. And it was. I didn’t need such a great machine – it was indeed a great popcorn maker – but it was made for large volumes, good for parties or small stores. The choices are out there, but we have to make sure we know exactly what we’re looking for first.

Do you want a popcorn machine that can produce treats for a family on a Friday or Saturday night? Great – plenty of choices are available. Make sure it’s easy to maintain. Of course, you want your popcorn maker to put out the amount of popcorn needed for the occasion, but you also want to have an easy clean-up afterward. All popcorn poppers are basically the same – they all have the same compartments and requirements – so the simpler we go, the more convenient it is.

Maybe you’re aiming a bit bigger – a small business or a pretty smart side-line to invest in. Sure, it can be done. Make sure to keep the following in mind. The amount of popped corn you want your machine to churn out will depend on how many people will want to get it from you, so make sure you get a low-maintenance machine that can produce large amounts of popcorn but is still small enough to meet your need. Keep it simple and look for durability.

Of course, having a popcorn machine at an amusement park or other similar venues will require you to have a machine that can churn out a bit more than a bag a minute. Check the following. How long can it last? Is it designed for industrial use? Even more important: can it keep the popped corn in perfect quality for an extended amount of time? It would be a shame to see that perfect popcorn go to waste.

Here’s the secret: look at all the available used popcorn machines out there, just to get an idea of the price ranges and the capacity. Then figure out what you need and why you need it. The rest becomes fun. Stick with a budget and see which one would fit your purpose the best. And then enjoy it!

What Makes a Hot Air Popcorn Popper Pop?

It’s a serious question when you’re thinking about getting a hot air popcorn popper. I personally didn’t know what it all meant until I did a little research on it, and I was amazed at what I found. We all love our popcorn, and for the more experienced among us, I’m sure we’ve all thought about how to prepare the perfect popcorn in a popcorn popper. However, I found out some interesting things about hot air popcorn poppers that might help you decide when finding the right popcorn popper for you.

Here’s why corn pops. The corn is composed mainly of starch and water inside. When this is heated up, the insides of the kernel swells, and does so quickly, until the hull of the kernel can no longer hold the pressure and the whole thing explodes. The kernel turns inside-out so quickly that it creates that familiar pop. Beware: the kernel (or popped corn) can jump as high as three feet when that inner pressure is released.

The traditional way of applying heat was by roasting it over a fire – and later, when popcorn makers were made, people used fuel such as gas to heat the kernels. Oil was used in order to prevent the kernels from burning, and to ensure that all the kernels were evenly heated. That way all the pops came at the same time and there was no charring. Butter and oil, aside from flavor, ensured the even cooking.

Hot air popcorn makers are different because they eliminate the need for oil or butter. We all know that certain kinds of oil (like coconut oil) are reputed to decrease health – and though this is debatable, popcorn without oil is a nice change at times. Not only does this provide a much healthier snack, it also creates a much less greasy atmosphere, hence the popcorn poppers are much easier to maintain and clean. Any home maker with a busy schedule and concern for the family members’ health appreciates this. The only disadvantage found is that the instructions need to be carefully read, especially when there are children involved. But then again, all cooking appliances have those requirements.

For me, there’s really no more question. Yes, I do appreciate some oil or butter on popcorn, because there’s nothing like the old-fashioned taste of delicious popcorn. However, since munching on popcorn has become such a common activity for us, I find the hot air popcorn poppers much more convenient. There’s no substitute for a healthy snack that doesn’t require that much cleaning up.

Presto 04821 Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper

Just plug the Presto 04821 Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Popcorn Popper in and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you’ll have up to 18 cups or 2 large bowlfuls of hot fluffy popcorn with almost no un-popped kernels left in the machine. Because this machine utilizes hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. Although you may add butter as you see fit; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a way to melt butter while popping your popcorn. Simply add your desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best) and watch it melt. This clear plastic cover and cup must remain on during the popping process to prevent the popped corn from flying all over.   Easily removable for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water, and no other clean-up is required. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches.
